Priscilla Heic Fuit!

That means "Priscilla was here" in Latin. In fact, I still am here. I know it might not seem like it since I haven't posted in a while.

Anyway, here is an interesting tidbit I read in Smithsonian magazine. Apparently graffiti was quite common even in the ancient Roman empire! There is graffiti preserved in Pompeii that says in Latin "A loves B" and "A was here". It's strange to think that this tradition of defacing property has been around for 2,000 years. For some reason, I always think of these ancient people as not being emotional humans, like we are today. I'm not sure why considering there are so many ancient texts that describe somewhat common human tragedies, albeit in an epic format, like Homer's Odyssey. But this sort of made me realize that they were actually really similar to the people of today. There are still those lovers who eternalize their relationship by scratching their names into a piece of wood, and those young hoodlums who have nothing better to do than cause trouble. I bet they didn't think that someone 2000 years later would be reading what they wrote.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting. If you want to read the whole article, its really good and you can find it here:
