BlogBlogBlog

All hail the return of my blog! Well, not exactly. I often think of topics to blog about but blogging is hard work and quite frankly, my computer is already like a whiny baby that keeps me up all night feeding it, rocking it back and forth in my arms, and giving it a good whack and a shot of whisky when I can't take it anymore. Boy, I'm going to be the greatest mother ever.

But today I realized that I might have accumulated the most magical combination of blogs, and I should share their great discovery with the world. Well my first instinct honestly was to horde this delightlful knowledge so that I could wow my friends and colleagues with my vast and plentiful mastery of all subjects. But friends, charity is what this world is all about.

Best Week Ever - Seriously, everyone should be watching this show on VH1 and reading this blog. Even if your only reason is to laugh at my brilliant references to the show. It's like when I tell Angelo that he is LC on "The Hills" and he has no idea what I'm talking about. C'mon, it's THE Hills, for goodness sake. It's not like there is anything else important on TV. Like Presidential debates or economic crisis coverage.

Capital Weather Gang - One of many things in life that Angelo introduced me to, like how if one Flintstone vitamin pill is good for you, then clearly the entire bottle is even better! Or how putting gum in your hair means that you get to have a tasty peanut butter shower. And who wouldn't love a peanut butter shower? Anyway, this is a great blog for anyone in the DC area who doesn't want to have to decipher those radar maps.

DCist - This blog is about everything DC. And I mean, everything. Since I started reading it, I've learned about all sorts of cultural events and political happenings around the city. I've been kept up to date on new restaurants and cupcake shops that have opened, and learned that a ton of people get murdered in DC every year! <3 DC 4eva!

Freakonomics - Great followup for any fan of the Freakonomics book. Updated several times a day. 'Nuff said.

Get Rich Slowly - I've been reading this blog for like two weeks, only to discover today that the author isn't even rich! But I have been duped into thinking this guy was some sort of guru for two weeks, so either he is giving practical, sound advice that he is only starting to take himself or this is some sort of elaborate Nigerian scheme.

Going Out Gurus - Another great blog for events going around in DC.

Mental Floss - This is like Spring training camp for prospective Jeopardy contestants. It's appropriate fun, random, and educational. There was a blog post about people who are blue. There are actually blue people. I know, totally blew my mind...

Stereogum - A blog about music which I used to read when I had more time. I remember it being good though.

The Daily Dish - A political blog from Andrew Sullivan, a liberal writer at Atlantic Monthly. I've only been reading this one for two days (one that Angelo recommended). So far, so good.

The Ex-Girlfriend Project - This guy anonymously posts his entire dating history and it is really interesting. Complete with the girl next door and her lesbian girlfriend. It was not updated for a while because the dude got into relationship that actually was going well. But luckily for us (although not for him), they just broke up. So some new adventures are sure to begin...

The Sartorialist - Fashion guy posts pictures of stylish people that he meets on the street. This blog has a huge following and what I've learned is that style is completely arbitrary. Some of these people look like they got dressed in the dark. Anything goes.

Things I've Bought That I Love - The blog of the actress who plays Kelly Kapur on the office. Strangely, she writes much like her character speaks which means that I find the blog pretty hilarious, and may also mean that perhaps she isn't a great actress after all. But at the very least, she is a good writer, so read her blog.

I also read quite a number of friend and acquaintance's blogs but I'll blog about those some other time.

I like Andrew Sullivan's blog too. Actually, he identifies himself as a conservative. He's socially liberal (not surprising, since he's gay), but economically and politically he's mostly conservative (big fan of Thatcher).
