ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME

This blog is about me. This blog makes me think that I am special. After all, that is what blogs are for. It is a way to delude oneself into thinking that they are laying their mark on the world in a way that is more visible, and perhaps more far reaching than any other way. I can think to myself "yes my friends read my blog, but maybe some stranger happened upon it as well and liked what I had to say." People are not as satisfied with leading ordinary lives anymore, even though almost all of us are leading incredibly ordinary lives. And I think the world is worse off for it because most people are going to end up disappointed once they face their inevitable fate of ordinariness.

Recently, CNN had an article that was somewhat related to this: http://www.cnn.com/2007/EDUCATION/02/27/self.centered.students.ap/index.html. The passage that I found most interesting in this article:

The study asserts that narcissists "are more likely to have romantic relationships that are short-lived, at risk for infidelity, lack emotional warmth, and to exhibit game-playing, dishonesty, and over-controlling and violent behaviors."

As soon as I read it, I immediately thought of quite a few people who fit that description. I always thought they would eventually grow out of it, but perhaps not. There was also some article that I read recently about how more kids now think they will be famous than kids from a few generations ago. It's probably the reality tv show craze that contributes to that delusion. Hopefully someone will set those kids straight before their dreams are eventually quashed with some ordinary, anonymous suburban life.

Anyway, so the point is I'm ordinary. And you probably are too. And quite frankly, there is nothing wrong with that at all! In fact, once we get over the fact that we are probably not special, we can start focusing on things that truly make us happy. And what could be better than that?

In a sort of unrelated note, I want to be cremated. I told my brothers this but I'm not entirely sure that they took me seriously, but I am dead serious (no pun intended). The land is for the living, and there is no point in my nasty decaying body taking up precious space that could be used for a glamorous strip mall or a trailer park.

One other quick note on feedback. My friend M commented that pedophiles might want GS calendars. And that is a good point. Even more reason to sell calendars with puppies. We don't want to egg that kind of behavior on.
