All things are made better with puppies...

I know it's been a long time, and I really do apologize for that. I don't have much of an excuse but my computer was on the fritz for awhile. Now I have a shiny brand-new laptop with an excellent battery life, so hopefully I'll be able to blog comfortably from my couch and that will improve the frequency of said blogging.
Let's get down to business. Topic for today: Girl Scout Calendars. Now, I was a Girl Scout way back when. There are two major fundraisers for Girl Scouts - cookies and calendars. Although the cookies are ridiculously overpriced, I cannot resist the peanut butter ones covered in chocolate. Even though you get about 18 in a box that sells for $3.50. They are so tasty and I do end up buying many, many boxes. I think I probably bought more boxes than I ever sold. Particularly since I was lazy and didn't feel like asking people to pay an exorbitant amount for a meager quantity of cookies, especially considering that my kickback was only like 25 cents for box.
My problem is with the Girl Scout Calendar, particularly the wall calendar. The cookies are tasty; however, the calendars are just ugly. Who really wants to put a calendar full of pictures of Girl Scouts on their wall? No one does. Even I didn't and I was a Girl Scout. Even the graphic art on the calendar was terrible. It was like some 5-year-old had done it using MS Paint. Who is going to take the Girl Scouts seriously when we're hawking calendars full of amateur photography and offensive color palettes?! Unfortunately, I couldn't find any good pictures online to illustrate my point. Here is the best example I could find:

So what does this have to do with puppies you ask? Well, here is my proposal for the Girl Scout Association: instead of filling your calendars with pictures of Girl Scouts, fill them with pictures of puppies! Everyone loves puppies. And if you must make it relate to Girl Scouts, maybe they can wear some Girl Scout costumes, like a sash or a vest or beret or something. I mean look at that puppy face. How can you resist it? Wouldn't that be a calendar you would consider buying?
[Update 10 minutes later] Just to prove my point, I transformed the puppy above into a GS Puppy (using MS Paint no less).

See what I'm talking about people? So adorable!

Although your Girl Scout puppy is adorable, your former Girl Scout council no longer sells calendars as a part of their fall product sale. Although these calendars have never been popular, the council now states that too many people use PDAs instead of wall calendars. Whatever... Anyhow now they have a nut sale instead. I haven't had the nuts to know if they're any good.
Did you know that Thin Mints are the #2 selling cookie in the U.S. after Oreos? Interesting, especially since they're only sold a couple months out of the year.
